I researched the best travel headphones because I wanted something comfortable and reliable for long flights and road trips. I’ve been comparing different options and going through reviews from trusted sources like RTINGS, TechRadar, Popular Mechanics, and Amazon customer reviews. After comparing many options, these two kept coming up as the top choices:
however, i am having trouble deciding which one would be better for me, and I would love to get your expert advice. i am hoping maybe some frequent travelers or people who regularly take long flights can also share their experience with these headphones. i usually travel for several hours at a time, so i need something comfortable, reliable, and good at blocking out airplane and other background noise. battery life, comfort during long flights, sound quality, and how easy they are to carry around are also important to me.
Which one would you recommend for travel, the Sony WH-1000XM6 or the Bose QuietComfort Ultra? Are there any other headphones I should consider?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Samuel, thank you for your post. We hope you are able to get the answers you’re looking for.
It’s great you’ve done so much research into this and it’s important you find the right headphones for you. We’d recommend considering comfort, noise cancellation, and battery life when making your choice, especially for long flights.
We hope this is helpful and you find headphones that work well for your travels!
hi @Samuel i got the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones around two months ago. I’ve been pretty happy with them so far. i used them on a few longer trips and found them very comfortable. the noise cancelling is also great. the only minor issue i noticed is that the ear cups can feel a little warm after many hours.
But honestly, it wasn’t a big problem for me. For travel, I’d still choose the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones.
Thanks @Flemmings234 that’s helpful. I agree that comfort and noise cancellation probably matter more for me than having the absolute best sound quality, especially since most of my use will be during longer trips.
The fact that you have actually used the Bose on longer trips is useful to hear. How did they feel after several hours compared with when you first put them on?
Based on my experience with the Sony WH-1000XM6, I’d say it’s a solid choice for travel and long flights.
Heads-up on Comfort
Make sure you try adjusting the fit before a long trip. I’ve found that even great headphones can feel uncomfortable if the headband isn’t positioned properly — not much fun during a long flight.
Once you get the fit right, the Sony WH-1000XM6 is very comfortable and the noise cancelling makes a big difference when dealing with airplane and other background noise.
