Over the counter back up hearing aids

Good morning.

I am looking for a backup pair of hearing aids. My primary ones are Phillips from Costco ($1,600). Can’t beat Costco’s hearing center service and prices for my primary aids.

I am trying to figure out a set of backups, including to use on travel, but it is a little confusing out there.
Does anyone have advice on purchasing a backup pair?

Clark recommended MDHearingAid as a site and they have a VOLT Hearing Aid Pair (4th generation) for $297 on black Friday sale. Free shipping and return for 45 days.

Costco has Lexie B2 Plus Rechargeable for $829 (discounted price by $150), more than I’d like to pay but will if it is worth it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have only been wearing hearing aids since earlier this year and overpaid on some Signia’s from a place Kaiser sent me to and would definitely go to Costco next time.

To answer your question, I recently bought the Apple Air Pod 3 Pro which have a built in hearing aid and I find that those work great. You take your own hearing test thru their app and it seems to work fine. Obviously they are not quite as comfortable as the regular ones and only have about 10 hours of battery life. The main reason I bought them for was for bicycle riding but I notice I have them on most of the day now. For $250 I don’t think you can really go wrong.

Thank you for your insightful comments.

Coincidentally, I was at Costco yesterday and the audiologist strongly suggested I try the airpods for back up. He cited the reasonable $250 price, the very flexible return policy and the programming you mentioned. He even walked me down to the airpod display. Typical great Costco service.

I’m interested in also trying them but the one issue for me is keeping generic ear buds in my ears, like when I run now with a “for running” radio. The buds I use are those handed out on airplanes

Question: Do you find the airpods are stable in staying in your ears?

Again, thank you.

They seem to stay in the ear, I don’t know how but they do but they do. I see people jogging down at the beach along the bike path all the time and most people are wearing them.

Thanks for your insights. Helpful

I’d go with Lexie B2 for travel. Better sound and rechargeable. MDHearingAid is fine as a cheap backup but the sound isn’t as good.
