I bought my hearing aids at Costco a year ago

I bought my hearing aids at Costco a year ago. I’m very happy with them. My membership just expired. I don’t shop for anything else there because it’s too far away. Do I have to keep my membership in order to get my hearing aids serviced?

I’d run the numbers and decide if I were you. You may find that the service is worth the price of membership.

I think they refer to your membership number when the pull up your hearing aid records.

Those hearing aids would probably cost you $400 - $500 more some where else. The Costco membership is $55 ($60 after Sept.2024). If you going to get your hearing aids serviced at Costco, you may as well do some shopping while you’re there. Plus, the AI revolution is going to mean significant advances in hearing aid technology and features. You may find yourself consider new hearing aids soon. Get the membership.

Thank you for your insight. I actually did decide to renew the membership on August 30, ahead of the increase. It was $60, now increased to $65. Part of my hesitation was because I don’t shop there regularly, because it’s not nearby. Also, we are getting a BJs locally, which is about to open, and I’m planning on getting a membership there. I’ve never shopped at BJs, so maybe after comparing the two, I’ll end up letting one go after a year.

I’m 90 minutes from my Costco. I have to pass Sam’s on the way. I currently have a Sam’s membership, as well. BJ’s is a half-mile from Costco. When I can get one real cheap (usually Groupon), I get a BJ’s card, just to see what’s new. But, to me, Sam’s is little more than a glorified Walmart, and BJ’s doesn’t have nearly the number of organic options and other goodies I like that Costco carries. So, I drive the extra distance for Costco, and sometimes poke my head in BJ’s. For me Costco is worth the drive.

how much are the hearing aids at costco? I paid 5,000 thru my insurance somewhere else. we have a sam’s in our town. what would i be expected to pay?

Part of that $5,000 was for the follow up services and adjustments you’re supposed to receive when you buy the hearing aids, if you didn’t know.

Sam’s hearing aids range from $1,400 to $2,000, I believe. It’s been several months since I last looked. If you’re Sam’s member, you can login to their website and get a pretty good idea of what they have. But, I suggest you use Bing or Google and do a little research on OTC (over the counter) hearing aids before you buy new ones. OTC hearing aids were made possible only recently by the Biden administration. They are changing the hearing aid industry, slowly but surely. I believe the ultra expensive hearing aids will come down in price to compete, because they will surely begin losing business as the OTC hearing aids improve. And, they ARE improving.

i bought a cheap extra pair of aids that increase sound on Amazon, and they are good in a pinch.
Does sams or anyone else have something that you can adjust per atmosphere

I paid around $1500 a year ago.

Costco’s hearing aids are adjustable with the app.

I paid around $1500 a year ago at Costco for Philips hearing aids. This includes 3 years of service and adjustments, along with a 3 year warranty. I don’t think this price and level of service can be beat anywhere.

I purchased OTC Audien.com hearing aids on line. I have the rechargeable Atom2Pro for $289 These are awesome & you get charging case with UV light that sanitizes when put in case to charge. You get charger & many items. Please check out on line. 3 days shipping. I control volume & listening mode, each adjustable for conditions. Sometimes i wear one at a time. No right or left one. Couldnt be happier.

Thank you Barbara. I will consider that when I need to replace mine.

My husband had hearing aid for years (expensive) I got mine at Costco maybe 3 years ago. VERY pleased with service and price. Believe were under $1000 for a pair behind ear type. They let me try various types walking around the store. That was really helpful.

They didn’t offer to let me try them in the store. They pretty much pushed one particular brand on me, saying this one was best for me. I’ve been pretty much happy with them, except for having Bluetooth connectivity issues with my phone, but that could just be my phone.
