AMAZON RETA* (Combined Orders) Billing Charges

Has anyone in the forum noticed charges from AMAZON described as “AMAZON RETA* Z######## WWW.AMAZON. CO WA” on their CC billing statements lately?

It may be that you purchased an Amazon Gift Card, perhaps print at home.

Nope… I just checked, nothing shows up except little gift cards for returned items.

In the month of Dec I got two RETA* charges over $150 and one for about $25 and they don’t match any of my purchases.

Mystery solved… they were batched orders made up of multiple existing orders.

Amazon grouped separate individual orders within a few-day period and under multiple transactions and assigned them with descriptions “AMAZON RETA* Z######## WWW.AMAZON CO WA.”

When I went over my CC statement they didn’t match the orders that we had made with Amazon for that month and being December we had lots of seasonal incidentals, gifts, etc.

It took a call to AMAZON to find out what orders were in each batched description, there’s no way of knowing without calling them and having them interpret what’s included in one of the “AMAZON RETA*” batched orders.

ADDED: The use of “RETA*” in the product description made it sound like a returned item scenario, and some of the items in the batched orders had been returned before we received the Dec. CC statement.

I would call Amazon Customer Service: 800-955-9060. I thinkj Reta is Amazon Retail

I agree that the way Amazon grouped charges show up is confusing. It takes a certain amount of time and aggravation each month to reconcile the credit card statement with what I ordered.

I agree, it’s a goofy way to do business.

If you want to reconcile your CC transactions it makes the process much more difficult and time consuming. I had ordered a package deal of a Kindle, a cover and a charger. They broke all three items out in three shipments and combined the individual item bills with other unrelated items that were not part of the Kindle package deal.

When I had ordered the package deal on sale there was no breakdown of the cost of each item, just a total. So I had to call Amazon to see what the heck was going on.l
