I periodically check my earnings history at SS.
I went to the site today and it said I have to create a new user name and password since they changed it on 6/7/2025.
Anyone have to do this ? is it legit ?

Be sure you are going directly to: https://www.ssa.gov/ by putting it in the address line.
Never use Google to navigate to financial websites as they are evil and make money by selling ads to scammers and put fraudulent links in the search results to hijack people.

Agree - don’t click a link to access ssa. I had to change my password in May. I use a password manager so it’s a random series of characters.
Occasionally I check to see if ID.me is going away because it’s a private third-party service, but as long as it’s controlled by a billikonaire tech bro campaign donor I guess its here to stay. I misspelled billionaire but I’m going to leave it that way, sounds better.
I would love to get rid of it…..but the IRS requires it and I make all my estimated payments online. The other government services I use (State Dept, SBA, TSA) support Login.gov. I think the FAFSA process still uses its own username/password credentials.
