FedEx Customer Service

I used to think FedEx was reliable. Two recent issues make me question that.

I ordered a 45 pound electronic item to come to my PO box. The shipper used that address but decided to send it via FedEx. There was a delay in shipping and thus I learned of the delivery much after the fact.

This is supposedly my USPS Post Office delivery photo:

Since it was delivered, Fedex said to contact the shipper. The shipper said contact FedEx. Finally the shipper said that the address label was wrong and they offered a refund. So this shipper said that apparently their label did not match the information on the shipping document. I have to believe they looked at the label but perhaps the bar code was wrong? Who knows.

So I ordered a unit from someone else. I gave a location nearby that has FedEx deliveries almost daily and there is someone there whenever FedEx would be making deliveries. The delivery receipt said 4pm (and there were people there). The receipt also shows a name/signature. Because of information below, I filed a claim with FedEx. They denied it because it was signed for and the address matched the label.

I disputed their denial and that is below. I am awaiting another denial. It was paid for many months ago through Paypal so I may be out of luck.

The claim was denied because FedEx says it was delivered to the label address and signed for.

This address has FedEx pickups and deliveries almost daily, and no one can recall EVER having to sign for a package. No one knows the name on the signature, and even the neighbors don’t recognize it. I’m convinced the package was not delivered here.

It would be simple for the local FedEx office or your IT team to check whether this signer has signed for other packages, and at what address. Reviewing times and addresses around this supposed delivery would likely reveal where it actually went.

With decades in I.T., I know a quick glance at paperwork isn’t enough to track a misdelivered item.

If needed, I’ll speak directly with the driver or visit the Kona Airport FedEx office to ensure more effort is put into resolving this.

So far it appears that FedEx takes a photo if there is no person to sign. If someone does sign there is no proof that the driver didn’;t sign and took the item, that someone else signed with a fake name, etc. Even if an item is signed for, a photo would have made my case for me that that person was not at the location on the label.

Yes, we seem to have a number of things here which are different from other states. Some good and some bad.

There are two USPS post offices near each other (a 10 minute drive). The one further away receives our mail and all carriers come from that site. It acts as a distribution site. Our closer Post Office has no carriers. So if the carrier cannot fit a package in our mailbox, it goes to that closer Post Office where I have a box.

So lets say I post a letter to any other location on the island, the fun begins. I don’t think any of the post offices have a local slot, but maybe. But Other than using that slot (if one exists), the mail goes to one of two airports here, is overnighted to Oahu 200 miles away. It will be sorted and put on a plane and sent back to the closest airport on our island to be delivered. It is somewhat as FedEx does by sending mail to a central sorting location and then send it out the wheel spokes to the destination.

It also is kinda how Kaiser does medical. All expensive and critical care is on Oahu, so for the most part, specialists are a plane ride away too. Kaiser books and pays for your plane ride, and if you will be sedated, they also book a flight for your companion to check you out and take you home. Yes, you get frequent flier miles for an operation or procedure (if you are smart enough to pull the PNR into your account).

I am sure people wondr why I keep mentioning Hawaii in discussions. It is because like Alaska, our two states operate differently from the rest in some cases. I try to show that generalizations people write may be completely different elsewhere. And yes, we commonly all pull over when an ambulance passes and because we do, often they are not using their siren. Then (drum roll), we pull back into the same order we were in before the disruption!

FedEX is the pits. They lost one bicycle, and finally ā€œfoundā€ it badly damaged, then lost another. Had a FEDEX manager as a patient who quit, saying there is so much pressure for volume, that work is sloppy.

For us they ā€œlostā€, ā€œfoundā€, and delivered a box with four gallon jugs in it. They were supposed to be full gallons so a heavy box. They never noticed that the box they delivered was a lot lighter than the box that was shipped?? All four jugs were empty. Thankfully for us, the shipper reshipped. In point of fact, I have never had a shipment going through FedEx with liquids that came unscathed the first time. I always wonder how wet their warehouse is.
