I may want to ship a car out west. Can anyone recommend a company or website where I can get an estimate?
No idea, but did learn from a friend who did this. Have someone take a 100 pictures of every part of the car before shipping. Have those pics on hand before you accept the car.
[friend discovered shipping damage which the pics proved]
Good idea! Thank you!
A friend of mine has used Intercity Lines to ship some high end cars cross country.
Excellent! Thank you, I will look them up. All the best!
I know this thread is old and want to update it with my recent experience. I started with UShip to see quotes and price ranges. There were a lot of bids however I chose to contact several of the companies directly after reviewing as many online reviews as possible. The two I contacted were SGT and Montway. I contracted with SGT and gave them a specific pickup window. SGT did not pick up the car on time and they did not proactively communicate about delays. So, I contracted with Montway for a guaranteed pickup. Montway was great. They were very professional and proactive with communications. I would recommend Montway.
I’m glad you had a good experience with Montway. I chose them and had a horrible experience. They gave me a 5 day window…car was not picked up. On the 7th day they told me they could pick up that day, but it would cost $250 extra. I offered to split it, was told told no, I had to pay the entire $250 myself. Since I had a flight to catch two days later, and it would’ve costed me more to change the flight, I reluctantly paid. I was told realistically it would 4-5 days to get the car(San Diego to Atlanta)…I factored in an extra day, so I thought worse case 6. Instead, 8 days later at 1:00 in the morning(so technically 9) my car arrived. Worse, they lied to me. I threw an Apple Air Tag in the trunk so I could track the movement. More than once when I asked for update I was told one thing which I knew was not true. Will never use them again.
My Sisters were moving from Florida to Hawaii. They looks at transport companys and decided t odrive their car across country to San Diego where it would be put on a container ship while they flew to the islands. Along the trip the traveled just after the hurricane a few years ago. They stopped at a Casino that appeared to have a few people inside. The place was bing run on a genetaor and they were told to cash out of the slot machines often because if the power finally went out, they were out what was in the machine.
I had them load Life360 on their cellphone so I could watch their trip.
I used Move Auto when we relocated from Seattle to the South East. I got a few quotes and theirs was pretty reasonable. Great service - they gave a window and accommodated pretty well within that window and car the car moved pretty quickly from A to B. They took all kinds of pictures as they loaded the car and uploaded them so we also had copies.
Whichever company you use, check BBB before you sign anything.
One other tip is to hide an AirTag in the car somewhere so that you can track where it is on its journey
Yes, recently I have shipped my car, a BMW M3, with a reputable and inexpensive company called Nexgen Car Shipping. I first got a quote using their online car shipping cost calculator, and then they called me to offer me a reasonable price for enclosed transport on a specific trailer. I signed with them, and within two days my vehicle was at my door. I highly recommend them.
I’ve transported two vehicles in the past three years. Roadrunner did an enclosed Chicago to Dallas 1600. Good experience, other than the driver walked on the car to get inside. But he did take his shoes off
Golden transport 1200 Phil to dallas. open carrier new truck. Communication was sparse and they waited until the carrier was full to deliver. But good experience.
Took lots of pictures and inspected during delivery. Good luck.
