Looking for those with experience and getting advice. I want to remove grass in front and replace with stones, pavers, chips. etc. Enclosed pic is not my yard but a neighbor’s and I like it.

There are a gazillions of examples out there, but I have questions for anyone who’s actually done it.
You’re in a much cooler climate, but what I’ve noticed locally is that yards with some sort of lawn are much cooler than tbose thar are rockscaped. A couple of days ago i was at a house with an all clover lawn.
