What’s your opinion on what she did?
What is our opinion on stealing $ from Goodwill ?
What is your opinion on what she did without rationalizing said opinion. Don’t let your dislike of a person or company influence how you feel. Most of the time people can make excuses for doing almost anything.
i did not catch what she actually did
Here is the link again. She supposedly removed the tag that said $14.99 and And claimed that she found it in an area where items were a dollar or two.
So she knowingly lied to the retailer in order to purchase a product at a lower price. What exactly is the question here? Are we actually debating if this is right or wrong.
Maybe the answer to your question can be found in the date of the original post.
It is stealing regardless of how you feel about pricing. If Goodwill prices are too high, go to a thrift store or yard sales. Don’t be a thief.
I completely agree with you. Too many people try to justify wrongdoings. I didn’t think the correct answer would be so difficult.
thanks. I often find Goodwill will look up an item and put it at a very high price.
I agree Goodwill does that on many items. However, just because I don’t like what they do doesn’t give me the right to steal from them like that person I posted about did.
I often look at prices (especially unit prices if on groceries) `and if I see something that is lower price than the rest, I’ll buy it, even if I think it is a pricing mistake. There can be reasons an item is marked differently than the rest. However, I would never change a price.
In the case of the Goodwill example, if the item seemed too expensive, I would take it to the cashier and ask ‘Is this the correct price, it seems quite high’. The price might be a mistake or the sales person might decide to drop the price to sell the item.
Clark would be proud—I’m a multi-millionaire, but I love thrift stores. Goodwill is a complete rip-off. As soon as inflation skyrocketed with Covid, so did Goodwill’s prices, as if they had to deal with a single wholesale vendor that was raising their price. Granted, salaries had to go up, as did other expenses, like power, etc. But, OMG, as others have said their prices are very often higher than retail, but you can’t return the product and customers may discover later that there are rips, stains, cracks, in the product. Not only that, they have now started offering their most valuable donations on-line, so local shoppers are shafted. No returns, even with comparable retail prices on items that they got for free. They don’t even pick up furniture, etc, like most charities. They are not a charity and I don’t think that donations even qualify for a tax donation.
If it’s something I really want I will ask for a price reduction otherwise I’ll just leave it there and not buy it.
