Thinking of switching from a Verizon plan to Visible unlimited data if the costs are the same. Really despise phone company shell games with all the promotions. Our household spends about $120 a month for 2 lines. Can Visible beat that by a significant amount?
How does she like it? Who did she have before, if any?
I use Twigby, which uses Verizon towers. My plan is less than $24/ month, all inclusive. I think I get 5 GB data. The only thing I don’t like is customer service is by chat only.
Visible’s basic plan comes with unlimited data for $25 for one line, so it’d be $50/month for two!
Right now, you can sign up for Visible+ (the premium plan) for $25 for your first month with promo code VIP20. It typically costs $45/month for one line ($90/month for two). The biggest difference is 50GB of premium data, so you may notice faster speeds than customers on the basic Visible plan when the network is busy.
I’d also recommend checking into Visible’s 15-day free trial. If your phone is compatible and unlocked, you can get a trial phone number to test out Visible’s service before you cancel your current service. This is a great way to make sure you’re happy with the coverage and download speeds before committing to the switch.
If you do switch to Visible, I’d recommend trying out the free trial or a one-month plan first to make sure you’ll be happy with it. When I tested Visible, I had great download speeds and a good experience with customer service. Clark also recently switched one of his daughters from T-Mobile to Visible’s premium plan because it includes cellular watch service for free.
If you try out Visible’s free trial or a one-month plan and you’re happy with the service, you can save even more with an annual plan. Visible’s basic plan costs $275/year for one line, which works out to be $22.92/month ($45.83/month for two lines on the basic annual plan). Visible+ is also available annually for $395 ($32.92/month for one line or $65.83/month for two lines).
Something else to keep in mind with Visible: It is a single-line carrier, which means you and your wife will each need an account with a separate email address. However, your payment methods can be the same. While that may be a little inconvenient initially to set up, you can kind of “cheat the system” with this by using a Bring a Friend code. After one of you joins visible, you can share your code with the other to get a one-time $20 off promo each. Just another way to save a bit if you do switch!
Overall: I recommend Visible.
Was just about to reply and saw that @Dallas_TeamClark responded with a few points that I was going to include.
Obviously, you can read everything on the website of features, etc but I may touch on a few of them.
To begin with, my wife is on Visible and on the basic plan. When she signed up (2020), there was nothing but the basic plan. We thought that would have been too limiting but it actually works very well. She pays $25 a month.
She hasn’t had any issues with service - voice, data, text.
She actually used the hotspot - with the basic plan, it’s limited to 5 megabits per second and one device. We were in Nebraska and her computer couldn’t reach the available WiFi point and she couldn’t get closer. So, she turned on her hotspot, and remoted into her work computer on the east coast. Since remoting requires a good bit of bandwidth, I didn’t think it would work. Surprisingly, it worked very well - with no lag, and as she was using her phone as a hotspot, she was watching Netflix too.
When we do travel internationally, she doesn’t have connectivity (besides Canada & Mexico) where you get talk and text - but no data. Surprisingly, that hasn’t bothered her since she uses her phone a lot of a variety of data streaming platforms. For the most part, WiFi in the countries we have visited have worked out well for her. Secondly, if your phone supports multiple SIMs or eSIMs, that could be a way around data restrictions outside the United States.
She came from Verizon.
We have since moved her dad - about 2 years ago, from Sprint to Visible. He typically stays in a 3-hour driving distance of his home.
A few months ago, we moved her mom from Verizon to Visible. She too stays within a 3-hour driving distance of her house.
Between the 3, it’s worked out really well. My wife lives on her phone (especially data) and I haven’t heard of any complaints besides on occasion, customer service. But customer service is rarely used. We had trouble getting her mom transferred from Verizon to Visible and the support wasn’t great. Since my wife’s mom isn’t technical, my wife was using her personal computer to set up her mom’s account and it kept failing. After a while, we figured out the website / app kept trying to log into my wife’s account. Once my wife started an incognito tab, the sign-up process worked flawlessly.
As noted by @Dallas_TeamClark, each line needs to have its own account, but you can use the same credit card if you want.
In the end, we highly recommend Visible and as I stated, the basic plan has worked out really well for her and has been working well for her parents. Now that they have yearly plans, I may have my wife subscribe to the yearly plan - for additional savings, since we’ve had very good success with Visible over the years.
If I needed to switch, I would switch to Visible but at the moment, I’m on Google Fi for the international capabilities which is great for data usage with maps, etc to find our way about.
Just spoke to my wife and she’s actually on the “premium” plan. She upgraded when helping her mom get on Visible. However, she’s downgrading back to the basic plan. Although there are technical differences (speed, etc) between the 2 plans, she doesn’t see a difference. However, the premium plan does include the smartwatch service if that’s needed.
My family switched from AT&T to Visible basic a few years ago and I would recommend them. Pros: much lower cost ($25/month/line), simple billing, simple everything.
Cons:1) no international service (but you can easily buy an inexpensive e-sim)
2) customer service is only available thru chat (not stores or 800 numbers), but chat worked to resolve the very few issues we’ve had, and 3) I believe Visible customers get lower priority (and thus lower bandwidth) than true Verizon customers at crowded venues like concerts and sports games. But all-in-all, I plan to stay with Visible and would recommend them.
I had an issue and was frustrated on chat and said so. I was shocked when the next day I got a call from Visible to discuss the problem. It turns out it was an Apple problem but they were very helpful in working with me. I was pretty impressed that they reached out
Can I chat with Visible before I sign up?
I have a lot of questions.
Also, I need to get a new cellphone. I am thinking I might buy it at Best Buy. I’ve read they have a better warranty back up plan. Can I buy a new phone that way and have Visible service set up afterwards?
I don’t believe you can talk on the phone, just chat. I had an IPhone when I switched fom T-Mobile and didn’t have any problems with it. I’ve been with them for a couple of years and I’ve had no issues with them (I did with Apple but that was not their fault). My iPhone had a e-sim which was very easy to set up using their instructions
