Are any of the Caribbean Islands part of the US, so my medicare and uhh are taken in case of emergency? My family wants to travel to St thomas.
I also hear that there is high crime in some areas, and that is a concern.
Medicare covers the U.S. territories which include Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. For helath insurance in other countrie we have used insuremytrip and the tripinsurancestore
I check the U.S. State Department Travel Advisories website to help me decide which countries are safer for travel. I also register with The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to get notifications if new issues develop while my wife and I are overseas.
