Total Wireless $36 to $20 plan

I called Total Wireless solely to see if there would be any issues with data or phone on our upcoming trip to Puerto Rico. I had read online some people have had issues. I was paying $36.00/month. I am not sure if unlimited data as I never went over.

There was a language issue but the rep was trying to be helpful.

By the end of the call, I had an unlimited plan priced at $20.00/month. It was confusing but the rep had me shut off my phone, turn it on and type in my number, apparently to make it appear I was a new customer.

Afterwards, I looked online and there is the unlimited plan for new customers, guaranteed for 5 years. I am assuming the agent went out of her way to give me the cheaper plan?

Anybody else experience this?

I answered my own question when I just saw the below from Clark. Sounds too good to be true but…
