TENS Units (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator)

I need to purchase a TENS / EMS unit. If you have used one please let me know your experiences with it. Also please let me know what make / model you have used.

Thank you for your help.

Why do you need it?

The best recommendation would come from a physical therapist. Cupping sets are very helpful and cost a lot less.

I recently had an MRI done due to major back pain. It showed I have several issues involving pinched nerves and compressed disks. I am scheduled to have an epidural next month.

Both the spine doctor and the physical therapist have told me that any of the many units available would be alright for me but I would like input from people who have used them.

Didn’t know there were TENS units for sale to consumers. Perhaps they are like glucose readers and are sold to consumers with a prescription for them.

The person to ask would be someone who uses them professionally, like a physical therapist.

An international group has recently published clinical practice guidelines on interventional procedures for non-cancer chronic spine pain. You might want to read this article, see if it applies to your situation before undergoing an epidural, and if so consider discussing with your surgeon or obtaining a second opinion.
“Recommendations For people living with chronic axial spine pain (≥3 months), the guideline panel issued strong recommendations against: … epidural injection of local anaesthetic, steroids, or their combination; For people living with chronic radicular spine pain (≥3 months), the guideline panel issued strong recommendations against: … epidural injection of local anaesthetic, steroids, or their combination.”
Note that the article was published in the British Medical Journal so the spellling for anesthetic is different.
