Selling a car to Carvana

I am thinking of selling my car to Carvana and am a little confused about the 7 days return policy. Would I be selling it to Carvana or is Carvana the middle man in a transaction between me and another person? Carvana claims that a person buying a car from them can return it for refund within 7 days. As a seller, what is my obligation toward letting someone (Carvana or otherwise) have a refund? Would I be refunding to Carvana or the person that bought my car from Carvana. What if nobody buys my car from Carvana within 7 days? Can Carvana request a refund from me anyway. What if some one buys my car more than 7 days out.

Carvana’s documentation is geared toward the purchaser’s right to a refund and says little about the seller’s responsibilities in a transaction.

Carvana is acting as a virtual dealer. They acquire inventory by purchasing vehicles from people like yourself. Once they hand you a check and take away your vehicle then you are no longer involved. They market their inventory online for people to purchase. The 7-day return policy applies when you are a buyer.

In reading the reviews, most of the negative reviews were from people buying a car, with about 60% giving them a 1-star rating. Most of the people selling cars on Carvana reported having a positive experience. One guy reported it took him 14 days to get is money. Why would that be, don’t they write a check right on the spot if everything is agreeable? Do they withhold funding of the check they write?
