Prepaying to save money on your cell phone bill?

What are your thoughts on prepaying for multiple months on a cell phone plan to save money?

For example, Mint Mobile’s plans are only available for 3, 6 or 12 months in advance, and the longer plans have a cheaper per-month rate. Visible’s premium plan costs $45 monthly, or you can buy a year on the same plan for $395, which saves $145 over 12 months. Other providers like US Mobile, Red Pocket, H2O Wireless, Tracfone, etc. also offer plans for a cheaper monthly rate when you prepay for multiple months.

Are you open to prepaying for more than one month in advance to save on your phone bill? Why or why not?

I’ve done this for years. I flipped to Mint Mobile unlimited a couple of years ago when $360 was a steal with teaser intro deals and referral perks. My renewals were coming up and I looked at Visible’s $20/month for a two-year (promo code) commitment and was ready to flip, but decided to try the negotiation route since it just worked with a Verizon rate hike. They offered $313 and I was firm on a $240/year and they caved pretty quickly so long as I paid today. Four lines giving a $480 total annual savings was a sweet deal. Mint throughput rates for me are typically faster than the more expensive Visible+ 5G Ultra Wideband (215–702 Mbps) that is $35 with the promo code.
