So, yes, it is probably trying to redirect your browser to malware, a virus or it is trying to click on ads in the background to help raise the websites visability in Google.
Personally I get lots of those “We can get your website higher in Google” or that just mention SEO (Search Engine Optimization) scams. They send out those spam emails which say click on this link to go to a reputable company but send you to that website that needs a higher rating or more traffic.
It is all about clicks.
