Does anyone know how to remove an account (self lender) from my credit report? It is reporting 30 days late even though it is paid in full. This is really hurting my credit and I’m in the process of getting a mortgage.
Link to the Consumer Finnancial Protection Bureau on how do I dispute an error on my credit report.
Is it actually an error or was it late once and now it is paid in full?
Late once but now paid in full. It makes me so angry because it’s me that I’m paying back (self lender) and it was only $25 that I just accidentally over looked. Now it has reduced my credit score 39 points.
Many years ago I was late once for a payment. I called the creditor and was able to have the late payment removed from my credit report. No guarantee.
Lending Club would not work with me on furthering a financial hardship so I was advised that if they wouldn’t work with my debt management company to let it go to a write off status then work out payment arrangements with collections. It is unsecured debt. I do plan to pay, just needed some time. It’s about $9k. What is best way to handle this and how long will it stay on credit report? Everything else I am current on and I did look into taking out another loan through Upstart to pay this loan off but they wanted 32%interest and a $1000 fee upfront. I’m lost and don’t want my credit to be bad for the rest of my life. I’m 58🥺
It sounds like you are working with a for profit debt settlement company. If so, a better option is a non-profit counsellor through the National Foundation for Credit Counselling at nfcc.org.
Late payments stay on a credit report for 7 years with the negative effect on your score gradually decreasing over that time period.
