Cards going with out numbers

I read topic about safety of credit cards without numbers. As a Senior Citizen, digital stuff is not easy. We don’t have pay pal or any online paying app. But I do have a smart phone. My husband has one , but doesn’t know how to use it other than calling.

FYI: I don’t know about facial recognition but I will tell you that fingerprints are truly iffy as an ID. We tried that at my place of work and discovered that many people’s fingerprints are not detectable, possibly because they are worn down. In my case, we had to try different fingers in order to get one in which the fingerprint was readable. Aside from that, I do not spread my financial data access around and, thus, do not download any financial apps to my phone. The article says that tapping the credit card is safer than swiping it and I am happy to do that. What is not being considered in all of the technology being developed is that smart phones are extremely expensive so there are many, many people who cannot afford them. I also find that they are not intuitive and so are difficult to work with; while the screens are so small that typing info into little tiny spaces with my finger is difficult. And, then, there is the loss/theft/damage of the phone itself. I am a big thumbs down on Apple Pay, Google Pay, Paypal, etc. and using my phone for any type of financial transaction.

No more credit card numbers?? HOORAY!! I am all for it. I am a senior citizen, and I have 5 companies and 7 credit / debit cards. I am SO SICK AND TIRED of having to cancel cards and get new ones because of fraud. What I do now is to have accounts with minimal funds in it and that’s what I use for my cards that are exposed. And my bank allows me to turn on and off cards, so that’s another approach, but it’s a lot of work. I have a friend that has OBLITERATED the number on her physical cards and has NEVER had a problem transacting with NFC, chip, or stripe.

I have an Apple credit card and love it. I can easily check the balance on the wallet app on my phone, and I use the savings feature. I had one charge that had to be disputed and the issue was resolved very quickly.
