All of a sudden Spectrum announced that they would offer free Prime for as long as they choose to. I just have there basic service which is like 100 down and 10 up and pay $39.99 a month. I’m not that excited because I have access from my wife’s account, but it is nice to have my own. Just curious if anyone else took advantage of the offer.
I did a search and found out that Amazon Prime free is only for low income Spectrum internet subscribers.
I have been on a promo deal for about 15 years, it’s just getting to be less and less of a deal. Spectrum just raised my internet by $10 a month. My wife has had the same promo I have had all along at her condo and has always been a prime member and her bill just went up $10 a month also. We will be paying $49.99 a month for the 100 down and 10 up. The good thing is we are getting the speed we pay for the past 10 years, some years back it was as slow as the 405 freeway.
We had Spectrum for about 3 years now. I did not get used to their “salami tactic in pricing” and will never do. Started at 39.99 > 42.99 > 59.99 and still on it for now. No other benefits except lots of breakdowns due to weather. New Amazon is coming to market with a satellite internet provider next year. I am hoping to switch for a more stable connection and no more price hikes within the same contract!
I can definitely relate to the frustration with the repeated price increases. Starting at a low promotional rate and gradually seeing the bill go up makes it hard to feel like you’re getting the same value. At least it’s good to hear that the internet speed has been consistent for you. Hopefully some real competition in the market gives customers more stable pricing and service options.
