USB access and VirtualBox

I have a 35 mm slide and film scanner bought from a thrift store. It was in an unopened box. The down side is that the drivers are for Windows XP and Vista.

I have XP running in a VirtualBox on Linux 20.3. I installed the scanner’s software on XP but I am not sure about the drivers. I do know that I need XP to have access to the computer’s USB. The scanner must be plugged into USB 2 in order to work.

According to what I can find, it is possible an operating system inside VirtualBox to have USB access. I do not understand how to set up that access.

Is anyone running an operation system in VirtualBox that has USB access?
