Pool resurfacing

I am in the process of getting estimates for pool resurfacing. Other than warranty and cost, what should I be considering?

What does/doesn’t need to be considered in resurfacing and replacing waterline tile?

How valuable is it to raise the level of a Baja shelf from about 30ish" to about 18ish"?

While I hope to live here until I die, I don’t want to make decisions that aren’t focused on resale without at least considering them.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think this is the best place to ask these questions. Try these two sites:

Don’t do what we did!! Years ago, we had to have the metal beam that goes around the pool repaired, which entailed a lot of resurfacing and new tiles. Not knowing anything since we bought the house with this pool from the 60’s, we had a pool specialist resurface with fiberglass. It lasted a really long time (30 years or more) but now needs some repairs. No one in the mid Atlantic area seems to do work on fiberglass covered pools. Apparently it is more common in southern states. By fiberglass, I mean strips of fiberglass applied to the concrete, not a drop in molded pool. Really call around for several estimates and understand what exactly they plan to do. We were lucky it lasted as long as it did, but now might be faced with a huge job of removing all the fiberglass and resurfacing the concrete underneath. Think long term! Good luck!

My pool is plaster over gunnite. I will be doing some sort of pebble finish. Plaster has changed from what it was, and does not last long at all anymore. Definitely thinking about longevity.
