Is that dental plan really worth the premiums?

“You need dental care. Your boss hands you the forms to enroll in the company dental plan. Or as a retiree, you might be thinking of switching to a Medicare Advantage plan because it offers dental benefits. Or you hear a spot on the radio advertising an individual dental insurance plan for a low price auto-drafted from your checking every month. All promise great savings, but are they really worth your premium dollars?”

Great topic @Henrius

We dropped dental insurance when I retired. I listened to a podcast that did analysis of the various dental plans and they amount to just a pre-paid coupon book with a tight spending cap.

We found a dentist that offers an annual program for $400. It includes 2 cleanings anytime (doesn’t have to be 6 months apart), a set of x-rays, and 30% off additional work.
