Is anyone re-thinking their TransUnion account?

I currently have a free TransUnion Service Center account that I’ve been using to lock/unlock and most recently to freeze/unfreeze my credit. This week I received an email from them regarding changes they’re making the week of March 10, 2025. Below are a couple of troubling statements in the email… My initial thought is to cancel the existing account and then create a new one after their changes go into effect. Hopefully at that time I would be able to OPT OUT of the personalized offers. Just wondering what others think of this and how they plan to deal with it?

Personalized offers based on your credit profile are a core part of the updated experience so please review the following:

If you have previously opted out of personalized offers, you will be opted back in.

If you do not want to receive personalized offers, you can cancel your account at any time before the updated experience is live.

If you do not cancel your account before the updated experience is live, you authorize TransUnion to show you personalized offers from third parties.

The credit bureaus have to offer free to consumers the ability to freeze and unfreeze their credit. You could forward the email to the FTC or perhaps the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to see if Transunion’s personalized offer restriction is permissible.

You don’t need to belong to freeze/unfreeze credit.

Thanks for the replies… I think I’ll close the account and then see what I need to do if/when I need to unfreeze. Recently they’ve been changing things as far as their website is concerned and I got the impression they were really trying to be more customer friendly UNTIL I received that email… didn’t care for the tone of it or being opt-ed back into personalized offers automatically.
