I am trying to divorce a man for months now and the Courts in New York is giving me the run around. This man owes Child support prior to me marrying him . Now the Child Support is coming at me and my bank account , they took out all the money i had in the bank and i am reaching out to the public for advice on what to do. I have 4 fatherless children raising them on my own. One in College one in High School, two in middle school. i have been trying to make ends meet with no help from their father. How can i get help to get my money back and get a divorce also. Thanks. I have no children for this man whom i want to divorce.

Your post is confusing. You are divorcing a man who has 4 children from previous relationships? You have no children with this man?
Guessing you had a joint bank account and he was garnished for not paying child support? So the court took the money from your joint account?

I agree it is confusing, although my understanding was different. I’m thinking she is saying she has four children (not with her current husband) for whom she is the sole support, and the husband who has disappeared is in arrears for child support for other children (numbers not listed). An attorney is definitely needed, as she is not responsible for supporting her step children, but her husband is. There are ways to distinguish her resources from his, but it can be complicated with co-mingled accounts.

I have four children they are not for the man that i marry. I cannot afford legal services. Is there any other help where i do not have to pay? Thanks for help and advice.
