2 days ago my phone died suddenly. Its not the battery and not the screen according to a repair person. I’m stumped ! My Gallery app, Contacts app, memo app and Calendar app all have content that would be a serious loss if I can’t get someone in there to retrieve them. Repair people it appears do batteries, screens and not a lot else. T-Mobile stores are only interested in selling you a new unit and start looking out the window with a glazed look in their eyes when you start talking about anything that is even vaguely tech support. Does anyone have any info that could help me navigate this problem ! Its a 2019 Samsung Galaxy s10e. So since 2019 I’ve been trucking along with no issues so my current knowledge of phones is less than nothing. I’ve tried the googledotcom and the icloud but it seems I wasn’t backed up or I’m not looking at it right.
I cannot understand how there is no backup with this statement. If you have something you cannot lose then you MUST have backup. Since you have an Android, have you checked your online Google account? On my phone the Google Contacts, Keeps and Calendar data is auto backed up. You aren’t using Samsung proprietary apps are you ?
After talking to 3 different data retrieval people, because it was a catastrophic failure unless it was saved to the cloud it would be mega bucks to retrieve, so I went ahead and got a new phone and just crossed my fingers. The 2 apps that didn’t make it to the new phone is my Samsung Gallery app (with 10 years of my photos etc. major bummer) and the Samsung Note app also a major bummer as it had a lot of my life on it. So lesson learned. Backup is crucial. ugh! Contacts, Calendar others that could easily be started back from scratch were all saved.
In addition to your Google account, I would see whether your Samsung account was syncing data; occasionally, contacts, notes, and calendar entries are stored up there. A skilled data recovery service might still be able to recover your files if the phone has a motherboard problem.
Ever since I created my 2 Gmail accounts 20+ years ago I have been happy to have a Google account. Everything backed up online. The last 2 or 3 phones I bought I sign into my G account and within minutes all my data is on my new phone. That’s a backup Alien. After your device dies is too late to be thinking of a backup.
Have you tried putting in a sim card and putting your stuff onto the card?
Since you were able to transfer data, I’m thinking that the phone is not dead, maybe the graphics failed?
