I wanted to order some items on Black Friday sale so I called a company where I had an account. The Customer Service guy asked how he could help and I said that I needed a shipping quote.
He said "I see your CALLER ID is associated with an account. I verified my name and he pulled up my email address and shipping address from the account. It was seamless.
However, I can imagine that I could have spoofed a CALLER ID and acted as though I was someone else. Sometimes convenience and good customer service can create issues in security. I have written before about how ‘voice verification’ to acces an account can sometimes limit getting a problem fixed.
