Clark and Christa recently talked about rebooking flights when fares dropped. Can you do this with basic economy? Any other tips from anyone who has done this?
Generally you can’t do it with basic economy because those fares are “non-refundable”, but I did this with a non-basic economy ticket to Italy this summer. The ticket I got was one step up from basic and refundable for an e-credit. I originally bought a ticket for $1700 but kept looking at the prices and one day they dropped to $1200, but for only one day. When I saw the price drop I contacted the airline, Delta, and had them change it for me. I actually got better flights with the second ticket and now have a $500 credit with them good for a year. So, when you buy the ticket make sure you know what the refund options are if you want to try to do this.
