I’m planning to buy the best slow cooker and wanted some recommendations from people who have real experience using one at home. I’m mainly looking for something reliable, easy to use, and good for cooking soups, stews, meat, beans, and family meals.
There are many brands available now like Crock-Pot, Instant Pot, Hamilton Beach, Ninja, and others, so I’m confused about which one is actually worth buying. I would prefer something with good temperature control, decent capacity, easy cleaning, and long-term durability.
If you’ve used a slow cooker that you think performs really well, please share your suggestions and experience. Thanks!
I recently used both the Ninja MC1001 Foodi Slow Cooker and the Instant Pot Pro 10-in-1, and honestly both are very good options depending on what you need.
The Ninja MC1001 is great if you mainly want a dedicated slow cooker for family meals. It has very good temperature control, cooks evenly, and the large capacity is perfect for soups, stews, pulled meat, and meal prep. I also liked that it has stovetop-style cooking functions, so you can sear and sauté in the same pot before slow cooking. Cleaning was pretty easy too.
The Instant Pot Pro 10-in-1 is more versatile because it works as a slow cooker, pressure cooker, rice cooker, steamer, and more. I recently used it for beans, chicken curry, and soups, and it performed really well. The pressure cooking feature saves a lot of time, while the slow cook mode works nicely for longer recipes.
A few features I would consider before buying:
Capacity size for family meals
Temperature consistency
Easy-to-clean inner pot
Multiple cooking functions
Timer and programmable settings
Durability for long-term use
If you want something mainly for traditional slow cooking, I’d lean toward the Ninja. If you want an all-in-one cooker with more cooking options, the Instant Pot Pro is definitely worth considering.
I am 72 and have used many brands over the years, but the original Crock Pot is the best. I always questioned why I bought another brand. Honestly, I have never had a Crock Pot quit working. I have dropped and broken the “pot” or other parts of it. Best slow cooker out there.
I second the Instapot. I use it way more than I thought. Tons of youtube vids on things I never thought to pressure cook. I make hard boiled eggs w 3mins pressure, quick release, ice bath. I make hummingbird water in bulk 4:1; I make tea (Yerba Mate & black ice tea). All my favorites w beans, like red beans and rice, split pea soup, barbeque white beans, etc. It also is great to sauté, slow cook. I don’t even use my stovetop anymore. It does a good slow cook too.
