I’m looking for the best running watch for training and everyday use. I read through a few recommendations and really liked the Garmin Forerunner 165 and the Whoop running watch. Both seem to have great battery life and useful training features, but I’m not sure which one would be the better choice. Has anyone here used either of these? Which one would you recommend, or is there another running watch that’s even better?
Both of the ones you mentioned are solid choices, but I think it really comes down to what you want from a running watch. If your main focus is running, tracking workouts, following training plans, and having a watch you can also wear every day, I’d lean toward the Garmin Forerunner 165. I’ve been using Garmin for a while now, and it’s been great. The GPS has been reliable, the battery lasts a long time, and I like how easy it is to keep track of my runs and recovery.
On the other hand, WHOOP is a better fit if you’re more interested in recovery, sleep, and overall health metrics. Just keep in mind that it’s more of a recovery tracker than a traditional running watch, and the subscription isn’t for everyone. So I don’t think there’s a single best option. Both are excellent products, it just depends on your needs, how you’ll use it, and which features matter most to you. For my own use, though, I’d pick the Garmin every time.
