I’m ole fashioned, I use a good manual toothbrush. I like the Gum brand.

I would not claim this one is “the best” but it sure is cost effective and works just like Sonicare as far as I can tell. Have used Sonicare in the past.

This one is found on Amazon and is called Aquasonic. Comes with 8 brush heads and a travel case. Bought one that lasted several years until airline lost our bag. Ordered another, without hesitation. Around forty smackers.

About a year and a half ago, I also asked on this forum about the best electric toothbrushes, and since then, I’ve tried several brands, including Oral-B, Philips Sonicare, Aquasonic and the Teetheory Sonic Electric Toothbrush.

I liked all of them in different ways. Philips Sonicare is worth considering if you prefer a sonic toothbrush with a slim handle and a smooth brushing feel. Aquasonic and Teetheory are also worth comparing if you want to explore more affordable options.

However, Oral-B is the one I like the most overall. I particularly like its small, round brush head because it makes it easier for me to reach the back teeth and clean around individual teeth. I also find the brushing experience comfortable and easy to manage as part of my daily routine. Some models include a pressure sensor and a timer, which can be helpful if you tend to brush too hard or lose track of time.

Here are the Amazon links to compare the options:

My advice would be to compare the price of replacement brush heads as well as the initial cost, since you will need to replace them regularly. Whichever brand you choose, look for a model with soft bristles and a comfortable grip, and use gentle pressure while brushing.

If I had to choose one again, I would go with Oral-B, based on my personal experience. Since your dentist has already recommended Oral-B and Sonicare, I’d also ask whether they have a preference based on your teeth and gum health.
