For 2021, all charitable contributions could be deducted against income, regardless of whether the taxpayer itemized or not.

Is it the same for 2022 returns, or did they return it to the way it used to be?

In 2021, you could only deduct $600 if MFJ or $300 if Single if you weren’t itemizing.
