Grocery Store purchases include those made at supermarkets, meat lockers, bakeries, smaller grocery stores, and grocery delivery services. All purchases made from Walmart or Target are not eligible. Purchases from convenience stores and discount stores may not qualify.
@crench You’re welcome. I wish Walmart was included. I do half my grocery shopping at Walmart and the other half at Aldi, where I do use my DC for cash back.
I have 3 credit cards and they always tell me to click a link to get a higher percentage on (whatever). Then I forget which cards do what. It’s a pain.
Discover actually offers 10% back in the first year because they double ALL your rewards at the end of your first year. Last year UTILITIES and INTERNET was very useful for me in Q3 because I could make advance payments. And they offer discounted gift cards as a way to use your rewards. Add all this to a year of 0% interest makes Discover a valuable tool.
Generally speaking, Discover does not consider Walmart to qualify as a “grocery” store.
Most Walmart Supercenter locations are classified as discount stores, therefore you will not receive the 5% grocery store bonus when shopping at these locations. The one exception would be Walmart Neighborhood Market; in most cases, they will fall under the grocery classification and you could receive the 5% grocery store bonus at these locations. If you are unsure which category your purchase will be listed in, a small trial purchase will determine how it will show up on your statement.
