What are Your Top Two Fun Destinations?

Machu Picchu was on our list to see but we never made it there. We did get to see many of the Olmec and Mayan sites in Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. The numbers of different sites and their expansiveness was amazing. The experts say that they have uncovered only 10% of what they know is there.

I made that trip 20 years ago. I don’t think I could make it now…it was a very demanding climb into the mountains…

Agree. I think there is a ton of history buried deep within the dense jungles. I hope that drone technology will help uncover a lot of this going forward…

I think the combination of LIDAR and on-site drones is helping uncover a lot of new information.

When we visited Angkor Wat in Cambodia we noticed some uncanny similarities between the two ancient cultures and the stone carvings in their temple sites.

Many of the carvings in both were similar to those of a person with Trysomy 21, (Down’s Syndrome.) There has been a lot of study into the possibility that individuals stricken with that malady were regarded as being god-like and worshiped as dieties by ancient civilizations.
