Look through the weekly ads, and plan your meals around what’s on sale. Additionally, plant a garden to supplement your produce and herbs. More of an investment, plant fruit trees that grow well in your region.

I always look at the BOGO’s being offered each week. It is a good way to stock up on items that will not go bad before they are used.

Mark, here’s what we do… shop in more than one store; look for those items you like and when they’re on sale buy several; also shop in big box stores (BJ, Costco); when GMO’s came out we switched to organic only; reduce your intake of red meat, buy more fish (canned sardines are cheap and healthy); have more veggie-only meals: veggie tacos, salads, pasta; freeze any leftovers for another meal; don’t buy cut-up fruit (you’re paying for labor), purchase whole fruit; buy in season items: watermelon, whole pineapple, sweet potatoes; try the store brands rather than the brand names, especially the organic items.
