Is the IRS free file limit apply the same to married filing jointly?

I know the limit is $84,000. Everything just talks about YOUR adjusted gross income must be $84,000 or less, but nothing ever addresses if or how that applies to married filing jointly. If you both are under $84k are you able to file jointly using it? Or is it only an option if we were filing separately?
Thanks!

I feel your pain. The part that irks me is you only find out you are over the limit AFTER providing your information. Oh, then there’s the $39.99 state fee (or something).

Seriously looking at paper filing this year.

I think you can depend on the word “your income” to include the total of the people on a joint tax return. That specific language (as in 1040 line “This is your taxable income”) means two people on a joint return.
