So, there is a bill that passed allowing HSA money be used for service pet medical expenses. I want to know why it doesn’t apply to all pets. I tried researching online but can’t find an answer. Having a pet can be quite expensive. It would be difficult for anyone to abuse the system since you must present receipts will all the information in order to make a claim for reimbursement. Presently, I self-insure by having a veterinary bill fund I contribute to monthly.
I suspect it is limited to service animals because they are essentially a VERY expensive assistive device for disabled people.
