I ran into the same problem. So I checked each morning until I found an appointment near by. Hang in there.
Where is “near by?” Atlanta is so booked up it won’t even allow you to book one.
My wife and I applied for GE over 8 months ago. At the time they told us it might take up to 6 months for conditional approval. I was approved in three weeks. My wife still hasn’t hasn’t heard anything. Our trip is coming up and I don’t think there will be time for her to get an interview now if she gets suddenly approved. The TSA has been no help at all. I’ve got my Congressman’s Office working on it for me but I’m not optimistic. Money down the drain!
Just curious, but where are you? I’m in Atlanta and they are so booked up you cannot even get on a waiting list. If you do go on your trip, try the TSA office when you land in the US. I’ve been told you can just walk in and get an interview. Good luck.
I’m in Athens, we fly out of ATL. What I found with getting my interview (suggested to me by someone I actually got on the phone at the ATL TSA Office) was to check online between 8am - 10am on the first business day of the month to schedule for the next month. They told me that if they didn’t put that restriction on they could be booked up in advance for next 3 years. So they don’t open up reservations for following months until the 1st of the previous month. We’ve already run out of time for my wife I am afraid. When I went for my interview: there were no other customers in the office, and at least 4 agents. I waited about 5 minutes and the interview took about 5 minutes. I asked one of the agents about my wife’s application and she told me that there is no rhyme or reason as to when conditional acceptance is granted, and that the initial applications are not even reviewed.
Thanks! Good information. Maybe, she can get an interview on your return to ATL. Good luck.
OK! Big update!!! I don’t know if my congressman’s office had anything to do with it or not (they did tell me they had contacted CBP/HS) but last Sunday afternoon my wife got her conditional approval. She then couldn’t find any open appointments anytime soon for an interview. She tried again an hour later and found one the next morning at 8:20 AM. I said “take it immediately!” We made the Monday morning trip to ATL (for us right through the Chemical plant fire area…thank goodness for WAZE) and got to the Global Entry Office an hour early. They interviewed her right away and 10 minutes later she was approved. So after months of worry we are all set for our November trip.
It took me a year to renew. They extended it for us, but they are so back logged it is crazy. Thankfully they finally got to me last month and now I have my new card. Good thing, I am going out of the country in March.
I renewed last year and did not have an interview. I applied online. But it did take a full year for them to renew.
