Clark, what do you think about the Gemini Mastercard that pays rewards in Bitcoin?
I’m not Clark, but I’d stay away. Just take your cash back and buy Bitcoin with it. Unless you can get more than 2% back from this card. Even then, move your Bitcoin out to your own wallet ASAP.
How do you feel about frequent flier miles? You acculate enough for a round trip to Europe, then when you are ready to book, you find that they are not worth what you thought. Maybe more, maybe less. Bitcoin or the equivalent are speculative at this point. In the past you could lose it all as people scammed, places you had coin went away with your coins, etc. It is more regulated now, but I would not do anything like that.
A year or so ago I got $2,000 of Bitcoin and $1,000 of Etherium. Over that time my holdings dropped to $2,000 (1/3 down). Today I am at $3,100.53 today. So over the past 7 months I have been down 33% and up 3.33%. I do better at casinos.
Kind of a dumb comparison. Airlines can issue as many frequent flier miles as they want. The amount of bitcoin is limited.
How much would you have if you’d bought $200/mo and $100/mo for ten months instead? Or if you’d shifted your purchase three months one way or the other? A lousy return over one relatively short period doesn’t tell you anything about whether it’s good to buy now.
