Fun Slang About Saving Money! :)

“C. U. there!” … See you at the “credit union”! A good alternative to the “monster banks”… along with some discount brokerage firms. Cheers!

Freegan: A play on the word “vegan.” A person who includes “free” items in their diet and generally in their lives. This can include, but is not limited to, dumpster diving, foraging, etc.. The term “freegan” has been around for several years and is a useful one for “Clarkies.”

“Y’all Street” - A fun name for the grouping of financial firms in and around Dallas-Ft. Worth. An appealing term that’s been around a while.

“Get started.” — Dreaded words when you click on something… thinking it’s “one click”… and you’re just “getting started.”

“Rewards chaser” — Someone who spends (often too much) time and effort “chasing” airline mile bonuses, etc. An oldie but useful term.

“City mouse.” A fun term I heard Clark use for a small, “around town” car. A bigger car for road trips and for haulin’ stuff is of course… a “country mouse.” Thanks, Clark.

“Bin-flation” — The rising cost of garbage disposal.

“Get it done before they retire.” A thought on the minds of many as their favorite accountant, builder, plumber, or electrician, etc… nears retirement. Whatever project you’re considering… better “get it done” before they retire.

1. “Roof rats” 2. “Storm chasers” —

Shady “roofers” who offer to reroof your house. Abuses can include: 1. Running off with your initial payment. 2. Coaxing the homeowner into filing a perhaps unneeded insurance claim, resulting in higher premiums or possible insurance cancellation.

P.S., there are many honest roofers who don’t engage in such abuses. Cheers, Clarkies!
