A robust and healthy social sphere is very important in retirement. In addition to family, it might be the best tool you can have for that stage of life.

What you need to know for retirement.

Here is my advice. Stay active and stay social. Find something you love to do and find others who share it. Mine is bicycling. I am in a group of retirees that ride almost every day. We sometimes take trips to other states or even other countries to go on cycling adventures. We ride slow…our days of racing are over, but A typical day for me is to head out at 8:30 and meet the group. Ride someplace for coffee or breakfast. Then ride somewhere for lunch and an adult beverage. I’m usually back home buy 2, which barely leaves enough time to do some chores…At 67, I am one of he younger people - most of our members are in their 70’s or even their 80’s. We don’t look it though.

I am new to retirement within the last 3 months. I think @H200h is right about the social sphere. I am a little on the young side (54) for retirement, but we had been planning to travel for about 6 months out of each year. When I get back I plan to schedule lunch with my friends and colleagues at east once per week, go to the gym every day, and take golf back up. I also have a bunch of new podcasts that I have added to my list around financial education. That should keep me busy enough around the travel…

A really good retirement knowledge base is on Reddit
