Don't bother filing a complaint with CFPB

with the recent record, i was pretty okay with KC anyway, maybe it was an accurate statement LOL

not sure your hang up about “not showing up to work” these fancy things called computers allow you to work from anywhere with an internet connection. source, i am in IT. I don’t have to go to every computer that needs work, I routinely log into the computers in plants several states away while I’m at my desk or on my couch or at another facility. Physical location means very little.
The government has been out for itself for far too long, we are seeing the picture of corruption in action every day. If you can’t or won’t see that, nobody will ever convince you. I hope it doesn’t cause you anything bad, but it has already caused thousands, and it will negatively effect thousands more.

I retired after 30 years in IT. I too managed computers across town from my desk, or my sofa. Or anywhere. I didn’t need to physically be there for any of that. NOt to mention that without the interruption of someone stopping by my cubicle to ask some minor question, I was able to get more done in less time when I wasn’t in the office.

Amen!! I didn’t want to get a 20 thousand word rant, but my desk is a danger zone, I need one of those old “take a number” systems and lock them out of the door most days haha

In my job I would be looking intently at the screen and was deep in thought about the problem I was working on… To someone walking up, I just looked like I was staring at a screen. Usually at the moment where I was reaching that “aha moment” where things were coming together. And then the interruption…answer the question, turn back the screen adn think…“now where was I”

I used to log into remote systems (sometimes Internationally) from home.

As for being inturrupted when working at my office location, I just put on my headset and posted the sign that I was on a teleconference.

yep, exactly. i run sales orders too, and so i get random questions about that, none of which is ever ‘emergency’. i have asked them so many times to just email to me because i can’t stop and focus on them when i’m in the middle of thinking about something else. one day, after the thousandth time asking, maybe one of them will do it haha

The CFPB drops its case against payment app Zelle : NPR.

Clark has pretty much advised against using Zelle since it was launched. If you are using it then you haven’t been paying attention…

It’s apparent that consumers are going to be mostly if not completely on their own from here on out.

We always were. Take Clark’s advice… don’t use it.
Clark has done more for consumers than the CFPB ever has or will.

There is nothing wrong with using Zelle. Just treat it like you are giving someone cash.

The problem is when people use it and then get ripped off. They go to Zelle to get their money back. It’s not how Zelle works. It’s a free service. If they had to investigate every claim of fraud they would have to start charging a fee to use it.

I have asked people to tell me how Zelle is technically insecure, and no one has been able to. I think it’s fine FOR WHAT IT IS. I treat it like cash, I have a small handful of well-known people on my Zelle as my recipients and that’s all.

Don’t pay Facebook Marketplace sellers with Zelle!

Here’s what the suit alleged:

I agree. I see nothing different/wrong with Zelle compared to Venmo if you follow Clark’s rules for Venmo: only pay people you know/trust.

I believe Clark spoke about this in the last couple of weeks, and IIRC, the answer to why he keeps saying the Zelle platform is insecure is that you cannot pull the money back. But can you do that with Venmo? And if you are using it for only friends/family that you trust, why would that be an issue?

I switched recently from Venmo to Zelle because Venmo locked my account due to Fidelity rejecting transactions due to their ridiculous 16-business day hold on checks and ACH pulls. There seems to be no coming back from that with Venmo, as my account now has mysterious limits apparently based on who I pay and how much.

Zelle has all sorts of warnings, notices, verifications, etc. I’m guessing this is the result of all the issues/lawsuits they had.

So, based on my experience, if you have a problem with Venmo, good luck! Their “Customer Support” is incredibly limited. Another instance where having someone answer a phone/chat and doing nothing is not good support!

#1 item is bad. It’s an IT weakness. Session cookie theft is an all-around very serious problem for any platform, and it makes good people look bad.

So they hook YOUR email or phone up to their bank via Zelle. Hmmm…

That means they’d have to know your email or phone , but everyone knows everyone’s email / phone by now.

So, don’t use a public email for Zelle… use an alias which is only used for Zelle, so it never gets exposed “in the wild”. That’s what I did, but I didn’t know about this particularly vulnerability, but I’m just so paranoid about IT security… anything involving money I use aliases for.

The problem is that, even after being notified of the defects, the Zelle organization took few if any steps to correct them.

In case you missed Clark’s take on the CFPB:

I’ve done a lot of work (contract work) in federal buildings, where I see the every day federal govt worker. And let me tell you, it is one big joke. Its insane the amount of money being wasted on these terrible workers (sure some are actually good, but they are far and few in between). Our federal govt is so bloated that a ton of pain has to come from fixing the decades of terrible policies. There is no way to trim the fat without feeling it.

Honestly with how corrupt our federal govt is, no matter what Trump does, or Biden or any single president, will not be able to make any actual change. The 99% of the politicians are corrupt and have done bent the knee to wall street (who really runs things). Until the politicians and wallstreet starts feeling the burn, nothing will ever change. We need our politicians to represent the American people (not illegals) and not corporate America.
