I noticed the same credit card payment appearing twice in my account recently. One of the charges disappeared later, but it was confusing to see the duplicate transaction at first.
Pretty common with things like restaurants where a tip is part of the equation. They run the card once to give you the form to sign and put the tip and total. Then they run it again. It should say “pending” near the charge. After a few days it gets corrected and the “pending” goes away.
I have noticed that it is not uncommon for this to happen every once in a while, and then the extra charge always goes away. I think we see too much detail on a transaction before it really is officially posted. If that makes any sense, just how I describe it.
