Has anyone used a company that disputes your tax and takes part of what you save?
This is called a property tax consultant. I did it for a couple of years, a number of years ago. Then the state put in a law what said you could not be such a consultant unless you first apprenticed for a “senior” consultant, and a bunch of other rot. That essentially shut me out, after two years with modest success. The state (Texas) did not bother to notify those doing the work, even though every Appraisal District in the state had a full list of all the consultants who worked within the district.
Anyway, the job of the Consultant is to study your property and come up with arguments of why it was valued more than fair market value. I trained to do that. Consultant then goes in to Protest (as it is called in Texas) your valuation with the Appraiser. A good Consultant will have done his homework and a good Appraiser will work with Consultant, hopefully agreeing to a lower valuation. If your Consultant wins you a decent adjustment, he earns his fee.
Here’s a tip! You never ever argue that tax is too high. It is all about getting agreement on fair market value of your parcel!

I did this myself and significantly lowered my property tax. If I remember correctly, it only took an hour or two of work on my part (phone calls, filling out paperwork). If Ohio works like other states, contact your county Assessor’s office or check their website for more info. You should be able to do it yourself and keep all the money. Disclaimer, I have not looked into paying someone to do it so I can’t say if it would be beneficial or not.
