Chase Credit Cards

Several years ago when Chase introduced its Freedom Unlimited card, it kicked off a TV campaign featuring comedian Kevin Hart. In one commercial, he had gotten so much cash back that he bought an NBA team. The commercials ran incessantly for several years. I decided to get the card a few years back.

Around 2 months ago, I was notified by Chase that the only way to continue getting cash back was to have them transfer it into a Chase bank account. You can still use your cash back amount to reduce your credit card balance or purchase items through Chase.

This is kind of a bummer. I have long-term relationships with my banks and have no reason to have to open a bank account at Chase.

I have a Capital One card and although they will not transfer your cash back into your savings account, they will send you a check. I asked Chase if they would send a check, and they said they would not.

After the millions they spent to advertise cash back, I’m hoping they get a lot of push back from unhappy cardholders and at least agree to issue checks. For now, I am not using my Chase card.

Not nice by Chase. Who would expect a CC company to do something not consumer friendly?

Seriously, I have a Cap One card I use in travel as it has no transaction fee and 1 and 1/2 % cash back. Cash back is automatically applied to balance.

In connection with the credit card, I maintain low checking account for ATM withdrawals while traveling. I electronically add need money to the checking for travel and then electronically transfer most out after the trip. This way, I don’t expose my primary checking while on traveling at n ATM.

You can fund an account with Chase and then electronically move in and out as necessary and, if you travel overseas, have an ATM with it. good luck
