No I don’t believe the Industrial age is the total or single cause of warming temperatures. Just as you cannot say human life will be impossible on earth at “some” point in the future because of it.
Just as an example of how complex warming is here is a scientist that, like me believes that a lot of assumptions are being made.
“I challenge climate modelers to “validate” their models to the level of detail I have in my comparisons here between satellite observations (Fig. 4 & 5) and a simple climate model (Fig. 5 & 6). Once their climate models can behave in the same way as the satellite observations suggest the real climate system behaves on a year to year basis, then we can revisit how much global warming those models predict for the future. Until that happens, I consider the IPCC climate model forecasts of strong global warming in the coming decades to be completely unreliable for basing policy decisions on.”
Excellent link, thanks. On that page, there are many more video shown on the right, including this one, a 14 minute video asking, Will EV’s save the world, or make things worse.
The paper you previously posted is by "Mark P. Mills . . . . a partner in Montrose Lane, From Bloomberg: Montrose Lane invests in . . . oil and gas industry adoption and growth capital requirement.
Not exactly an unbiased source on EV’s!!
The fact is there will always be climate deniers and shills for the oil and gas industry to feed it. Carl Sagan in the video I posted from 1985 estimated we had to the middle of the 21st Century to correct the global warming before we go beyond the “tipping point” of no return. Latest estimates now give us less than 10 years. You state:
So it is in the future and probably won’t affect you. Probably won’t affect me either. Do you have kids? Grandkids? Do you care what world they inherit? What if there is a 50% chance climate predictions are real? Is it worth the gamble? What if your child had a deadly disease and there was a 50% chance she would die without a certain pill. What would you pay for that pill? The world is in that situation and there are many politicians who would rather take the gamble.
While it may be true that there are multiple things contributing to climate change, a man-caused contributing factor is within the realm of a man-fixable climate change factor.
As a thing that has the potential to end life on earth as we know it, and it is within our reach to remedy, shouldn’t we at least make an attempt to fix it?
Your video from Patrick Bet-David is an interesting sales pitch. He founded PHP Agency in 2009, a financial services marketing organization that offers insurance products including annuities, health insurance, and 401k roll-overs. He’s a good salesman.
But in his video he presents the EV as a single-car solution. Most people who own EVs also own gas cars for longer trips. And among US car owners 37% own two or more cars and where I live 33% own three or more.
LOL…it used to be called “Global cooling”, then temps swung the other way. “Uh oh…what do we do now? We’ll just call it Climate change and that covers all bases.” Amazing how everyone falls in step with the latest doom. You’d think we’d have learned something by now from the 2020-2022 circus.
Climate activist have always claimed the doomsday will happen at a future date. When it doesn’t they reset the goal posts to a future date.
We have made many advances and can continue to do so with cleaner fossil fuel technology. There is no other technology that exists that can meet the volume of current demand and maintain our improved standard of living that we have gained in the last 50 years with these cleaner more efficient technologies.
The climate activist and alarmists solutions are to throw the baby out with the bath water and turn back with draconian regulations that stifle the individual’s liberty and upward mobility. The people that suffer the most are the poorest, disadvantaged and least equipped to handle these egregious and onerous regulations.
Sure we need to protect the environment and can continue to take steps to do so.
We may as well end this discussion and I’m sorry I ever responded in the first place as it is just a repeat of years of forum posts here and in the previous CH forums.
It is a futile effort trying to convince the agnostic that we as humans don’t have the same power as our creator and think we can change the weather, predict the doomsday or circumstances of it.
I lived in Alaska for 27 years. As a private floatplane pilot I flew over glaciers hundreds of times.
When you see the glaciers melting from year to year, it makes an impression you don’t forget. Trust me, they are melting rapidly… along with untold miles of permafrost.
The question…is this due to man or a natural cycle? Other planets are heating up also. Wonder if their “inhabitants” are to be blamed also or is only earth the only place where a dime can be made from this clown show.
I thought it fit the context of the discussion. It shows the level of atmospheric CO2 during the timeframe in the thread. It’s based on scientific fact. Atmospheric CO2 content is measured by examining samples of the gas itself for a million years back and by organic fossil data back to 500 million years.
Climate change has had significant impacts on all of us, and the costs are becoming increasingly evident in various ways. Personally, I’ve experienced extreme weather events that disrupted daily life and caused property damage. From intense heatwaves to severe storms and floods, the effects of climate change are undeniable. It also had influence on my health. I suffer from high blood sugar and a sudden change of weather is not good for me. Now I’m on some meds from Canadian Pharmacy that help me feel better.
The point of concern about climate change has zero to do with temps 60 million years ago.
Here’s the real point… our agriculture, our infrastructure, our water systems are built using operating assumptions that are changing right before our eyes.
Arguing that the temp was higher in the Paleocene Wilcox era is pointless, that’s just more “what-about-ism”. It’s obfuscation and re-direction.
What’s the point if you own the libs on that talking point, but agriculture, infrastructure, water, and outdoor worker wealth are stressed to the max? And you can’t insure your Gulf Coast or Florida home any longer? Or the Texas grid, which lacks interconnects, goes down, today it’s going to be over 100 again. We’re into historic # of days over 100 now.
The weather here in Houston isn’t as bucolic as Hawaii. If we lose the grid this summer, people are going to die.
