I have been with Allstate for over 50 years. My agent contacted me and asked if I was interested in a new policy they are offering. He said the coverage was the same but $600 per year cheaper. I replied to his email asking what the difference in coverage was. He replied ‘None’.
I replied that there must be something in the fine print on the new policy that is different.
At that point he finally fessed up… the policy I had allowed for three accidents in three years. The cheaper one allowed only one.
I replied I would keep my old policy… I have heard too many stories of people loosing coverage over an accident and having trouble getting new coverage.
I don’t think it is a scam, but it definitely shows why it’s important to read the details before switching policies with Allstate.Glad your agent was honest in the end—those small coverage limits can make a huge difference when you actually need it.
I’m not happy the agent had to be pressed before he admitted the difference. He should have been honest from the very beginning. It makes me wonder what he may have lied about previously. I also wonder how many others who did not press him now have a policy that is not as good as what they had.
