Buy an EV Before tariffs Start?

I’ve been waiting to buy a Kia EV6 until 2025. However, with the tariffs that Trump will impose, would it be better to buy now? I can pay cash or finance (credit score of 828).

Trump wants to help his buddy Elon!

Another thing to consider is EV Tax credits going away. The Kia doesn’t qualify anyway under these rules:

Thank you for posting that. I did understand that this model wouldn’t qualify, but I just love the EV6.

Maybe he wants to treat China’s imports like they do to ours ?

Be aware that the tariffs will probably also apply to imported parts if you EV needs repairs in the future.

I’m anticipating no problems. My current EV is 6.5 years old with no repairs. I have put in wiper fluid and such. My local dealer keeps offering my discounts on oil changes. I find that hilarious considering they know it’s an EV!

Trumps response to use tarrifs was only one way that he plans to reduce foreign companiesh from taking advantage of a USA open market. The Rogan interview highlights this topic. https://open.spotify.com/episode/0e9ynAH6hmZIIeOx0SaGQu?si=HXHAHhRlT3qbrVL175sTkA&t=5765

Thank you for your response. However, I don’t want to listen to Trump’s voice.

“On one hand, if the tax incentives are removed completely, the price of new EVs will increase, making used EVs a more affordable option. However, if they remain in place, then leasing a new EV could be the better choice,” Krear added. “It’s difficult to speculate on all the mixed scenarios the industry could see with federal incentive changes.”

I call it the Whine. He doesn’t talk, he Whines.

Buy EVERYTHING before the price goes up. I just took delivery of a handmade in the USA bicycle, custom built to my dimensions in Oregon… no tariffs, right?

WRONG.

My employer builds cloud computing racks from Asian components, assembles in Monterrey Mexico, and deploys worldwide. I’m close to retiring, in a way I hope I get laid-off, so I get a severance package and suck on the State unemployment insurance teat for six months. Not so nice for my younger colleagues.

I have a friend with a lots of teen-aged kids. He bought two used Mercedes EVs for around $15-$20K each and loves the low fuel and maintenance costs.
