Anyone have any thoughts on how long Inssurance Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) should be saved? The staff’s [recent guidance](https://clark.com/personal-finance-credit/how-long-keep-documents/?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=Newsletter&utm_campaign=ClarkDailyNewsletter&_bhlid=b833f74c43ecf22a78866b715356f8c07943f739) on how long to keep insurance policies is for as long as the policies are active, but I’m curious about these EOBs.

Thanks!

Sometimes within the last year I read a news story about Medicare or Tricare clawing back money they previously allowed nearly 10 years earlier.

That seems like quite a rabbit hole, on my first web queries… Astonishing, if true

I think that was Social Security that was planning to do claw backs last year. Can’t remember what ended up happening.

No, I am definitely recalling a case or cases where medical coverage benefits that had previously been approved and paid was reconsidered years later, and the individuals involved received bills for thousands of dollars.
