The US has a total population of 330 million people. [According to the US dept of energy, in 2020 drivers of all road vehicles drove a total of 2.83 trillion miles.](https://www.energy.gov/energysaver/saving-money-gas) That’s 8,575 miles for each man, woman and child in the United States!

If we drive the same total distance this year, and the price of gasoline & diesel fuel stays at or above $4 per gallon, at an average of 25mpg, we will spend more than $549 per capita for cars and at an average of 5mpg for trucks, $4116 for diesel fuel per capita this year. That’s over $4,650 for every man, woman and child in the US.

The total tab is $1.358 trillion… 🙃
