Long Term Care insurance

I kind of miss the old days where we used to die at home.

Lots of people die at home… it’s called hospice at home. But you miss the difference between the good ol’ days and today. It’s not about where you pass, but who is your caregiver?

Taking care of the dying (and childen, of course) traditionally used to be “women’s work”. Well, most women are working outside of the home, or the kids and parents live hundreds or thousands of miles separated.

Long term care financial arrangements are still needed to supplement or replace what used to be a caring female relative.

That’s not a correct characterization at all. My Mom went blind, she needs a caregiver to accomplish the activities of daily living (ADL), her LTC does pay for most of it, and she sure as heck doesn’t want to lie down and die. She’s pretty much enjoying life still. She likes where she is staying, enjoys the fellowship and activities, she would not like to stay with my sister who lives nearby, and my sister has her hands full with her own kids. There is a need for LTC coverage.

You can do what you like, obviously.
